Launay repeats Stakes victory
Having finished second in the Listed Hareeba Stakes last time out, Lonhro gelding Launay travelled to Flemington second up to take out the Listed TAB Stakes over 1400m – a program followed two years prior to the exact same success.
Settling in behind the leaders Callanish and British General, the Peter Snowden-trained gelding came from around that duo to tough it out and get up to defeat British General, recording his eighth career victory.
Bred by Woodlands Stud, Launay is out of the Palace Music mare Eve In Seychelle, a half-sister to G2 winner Storm and the G3 winners Runaway Groom and Regal Sea. Eve In Seychelle has a yearling, full-brother to Launay.
As the sire of 36 Stakes winners highlighted by G1 winners Beaded, Mental, Champion Two-year-old Pierro as well as the Darley stallions Benfica and Denman, Lonhro will be represented eight yearlings at the Inglis Premier yearling sale and a further 24 yearlings at the Inglis Easter yearling sale, while his G1 Golden Rose-winning son Denman, will be represented by 10 yearlings at the Inglis Premier and a further 10 yearlings at the Inglis Easter.
