Agulhas takes the Redelva in style
Settling in third position behind the leading duo who were at each other for most of the race, three-year-old Exceed And Excel filly Agulhas record her first career Stakes victory, winning the Listed Redelva Stakes over 1050m at Morphettville on 23 February.
Bred by Darley, Agulhas is the third Stakes winner out of the Gone West mare Arctic Drift, herself a daughter to dual G1 winner November Show.
Arctic Drift is also the dam of the dual Listed-winning Exceed And Excel colt Kuroshio, as well as his G3-winning sister Believe’n’succeed, whose Listed-winning Lonhro filly Bounding finished a narrow second in the G2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes today.
Arctic Drift has a yearling colt by Medaglia d'Oro and was covered by Exceed And Excel’s G1-winning son Helmet in the latest breeding season.
As the sire of 62 Stakes winners including G1 winners Helmet, Excelebration, Margot Did and Reward For Effort, Exceed And Excel will be represented by 17 yearlings at the forthcoming Inglis Premier yearling sale and a further nine yearlings at the Inglis Easter yearling sale.
