New Approach on top at Goffs
A very strong first day’s trading at Goffs on 3 October saw last year’s top price of €350,000 eclipsed when a full sister to New Approach’s outstanding unbeaten G1 winner Dawn Approach was bought by Peter and Ross Doyle for €775,000.
The filly will go into training with her breeder Jim Bolger, who has prepared Dawn Approach for all five of his victories this season, his most recent being a four-and-three-quarter length romp in the G1 National Stakes. His next engagement is in the G1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket a week on Saturday.
Also on day one, fellow Darley stallion Exceed And Excel, posted a six-figure average for the first day. His highest price was €125,000, paid by Kerri Radcliffe for Oaks Farm Stables’ colt out of Quinzey’s Best – herself a close relation of Exceed And Excel’s Group-winning daughter Mrs Kipling.
With New Approach's oldest offspring in the southern hemisphere having just turned two, he has been represented by the smart barrier trial winner Mattan a few weeks back.
Standing the current breeding season at Darley's Northwood Park at a fee of $33,000 (inc. GST), New Approach has been represented by eight winners in the northern hemisphere highlighted by G1 winner Dawn Approach and further Stakes performers Newfangled, Tha'ir and Rasmeyaa, while Exceed And Excel is standing at Darley's Kelvinside property at a fee of $66,000 (inc. GST).
The sale continues today.
