Medaglia d’Oro colt for Triassic
Having produced his eighth individual G1 winner on 29 September with the victory of Marketing Mix in the G1 Rodeo Drive Stakes, it was only fitting that on the other side of the world on the very same day, Medaglia d'Oro was represented by arguably one of the best bred foals of his second southern hemisphere crop.
Out of the twice New Zealand Broodmare of the year Triassic, the colt is a half-brother to the internationally recognised 10-time G1 winner So You Think. Bred by New Zealand Breeder of the Year, Cecile Smith's Piper Farm, So You Think was named the Champion three-year-old colt of his year, as well as the Champion Middle Distance Performer and Champion Older Horse in Ireland.
With his first crop of yearlings set to head to the sales in 2013, Medaglia d’Oro’s first Australian book of mares included G1 winners Belle Bizzare, Preserve, Rinky Dink, Shamekha, Star Shiraz and Zacheline, while his second book of mares included a further nine G1 winners and 38 Stakes winners in total.
The sire of 32 Stakes winners globally including Horse of the year Rachel Alexandra, dual G1 winner Plum Pretty, C S Silk and Gabby’s Golden Gal, Medaglia d’Oro is covering his third southern hemisphere book of mares at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc. GST).
