Authorized sired his fourth individual winner on Wednesday September 28, when his son Al Saham ran out a ready winner at Newcastle. Making his debut against 15 rivals, he was always close to the pace, before taking the lead two-furlongs from home and winning well by half-a-length, with a gaping eight-lengths back to the third.
Bred by Darley, he is the second foal of the Lion Cavern mare Local Spirit, a sister to Champion Crimplene who was placed in the G2 Lancashire Oaks. Local Spirit also has a yearling filly by Exceed And Excel and has been tested in foal this season to Cape Cross.
Authorized broke his Maiden in the G1 Racing Post Trophy as a juvenile before becoming Europe’s Champion three-year-old the following season when winning the Derby and International Stakes. Now sire of four winners, all his previous scorers (Witnessed, Tamarrud and Ambivalent) are unbeaten and flagged up by Timeform as types to improve on their debut victories.
