What a weekend for Exceed And Excel
Trudeau, an Australian-bred son of Exceed And Excel, landed his biggest career success to date on Sunday September 15 when taking the Listed Garden City Trophy at Kranji in Singapore. Held up at the rear early in the 1200m contest, he came with a storming late run down the outside in the straight to win going away by nearly two lengths, in the process winning his fifth career contest.
Bred by Darley, he is out of the Kris mare Canadian Legacy, herself a sister to G2-winner and Oaks filly Hawajiss. From the family of high-class juvenile Fast Company, Trudeau becomes the second Stakes winner for Exceed And Excel out of a Kris mare, after the multiple G2-winning juvenile Best Terms.
The sire now of 21 Stakes winners in 2013 including two G1-winning juveniles, Exceed And Excel has enjoyed an excellent weekend with Trudeau becoming his third Stakes winner. The first to hit the board was the G2-winning sprinter Kuroshio at Moonee Valley before Outstrip ran out a very impressive winner of the G2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster, with his next likely outing either the G1 Dewhurst Stakes or Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.
Exceed And Excel is standing the current breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $88,000 inc. GST. His son Helmet stands at Northwood Park at a fee of $33,000 inc. GST.
