Starting favourite after a last start third in the G3 Missile Stakes behind the Joe Pride-trained Rain Affair (Commands), Lonhro gelding Pinwheel confirmed his consistent record of late, recording his fourth Stakes win in the G2 Warwick Stakes on August 20.
Settling midfield in the run, the Peter Snowden-trained galloper tracked G1 winner Ilovethiscity in the run and as the home turn was cornered, both gallopers were produced for their efforts. Pinwheel overpowered his rival to score a dominate length-and-a-half victory.
One of 28 Stakes winners for his sire, Pinwheel was bred by Woodlands Stud and is the first Stakes winner for his dam Quilt and isfrom the family of G1 performers Charming City, West Point, Kenvain, Antique and Imperial Baron.
Later in the day last start Listed-winning Lonhro mare Jerezana returned from a six-week let up to finish an encouraging third in the Listed Toy Show Quality.
Lonhro will stand the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc GST).
