Four-year-old Voice Commander finished his Queensland campaign in style when striding to an easy victory in the 1300m Listed Weetwood Handicap to become the first Stakes winner on the new track at Toowoomba.
Bred by G Lesnikowski, the Commands gelding is out of Voice Mail (Magic Ring) and has now won seven of his 20 starts with prize-money in excess of $550,000. Voice Commander was third in the Listed Eyeliner Stakes in June having won the Festival Stakes at Rosehill earlier in the season. He was also runner-up in the G2 Phar Lap Stakes as a three-year-old.
Commands has enjoyed an excellent season, headlined by the Group One-winning fillies Purple and Russeting. With less than three weeks of the current season to run, he is in sixth position in the general sires’ table with 114 winners having helped amass total progeny earnings of more than $6 million.
