Medaglia d’Oro’s son Veranillo is on track for the G1 Golden Slipper, following a resounding win in the Listed Hinchinbrook Plate over 1100m at Randwick on 4 February, his first Stakes victory. The promising two-year-old colt won on his debut at Rosehill earlier in the season and remains undefeated from his first two starts.
Ridden by James Doyle for trainer John O'Shea, Veranillo settled just off the speed in the early stages before drawing clear in the straight to win by over a length.
Veranillo is a homebred colt and is out of winning mare Shelters (Lonhro), a sister to the G1 TJ Smith Classic winner Benfica.
Medaglia d’Oro has two lots on offer at the upcoming Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and is represented by 12 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
The leading stallion sired four G1 winners in 2016, including Champion and multiple G1 winner Songbird and Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner, New Money Honey.
