First-season sire Untouchable was represented by his fourth individual winner when his dark bay son Trusted Partner ran out a ready winner on debut of the Bithit Teamwear Maiden Plate over 1000m at Ipswich on Saturday.
Trained at the Gold Coast by Darryl Caldwell, the dark bay gelding ran out a ready 1.3-length winner under David Hayse. Sent off a well-backed second favourite at $4.50 after some good trackwork, Trusted Partner saw off his nine rivals in good style and now looks ready for a step up in class. He thus continued the good record of his dam, the Alannon mare Occur, who can now boast the impressive record of three winners from only three individual runners.
Trusted Partner now ranks alongside Sharufa, The Pariah and Mik Yelrow as winners from the first crop of Untouchable, himself a very smart juvenile, his form having included a close second to fellow Darley sire Exceed And Excel in the Todman Slipper Trial.
Farther south at Randwick, Untouchable’s relative Camarilla (she is a daughter of Untouchable’s Queensland Derby-winning full-sister Camarena) added further lustre to her already impressive record – which includes a victory in last year’s Group One Sires’ Produce Stakes – with a good third in the Group Two Emancipation Stakes. This daughter of Elusive Quality contributed to another good afternoon for Darley stallions, which was further enhanced by yet another bold showing from Carnegie's triple Group One-winning daughter Tuesday Joy, who added further Group One form to her CV with a third place in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
On Sunday, freshman sires Exceed And Excel and Dubai Destination both added to their tallies for the season. Seeking Attention broke her maiden tag at Gosford on her third start to become Exceed And Excel's twelfth winner while Viva Dubai scored at Sandown Lakeside. She is Dubai Destination's third winner this year.
