Toydini becomes Bernardini’s third
Heading to the races for his third career start, the Guy Walter-trained Bernardini colt Toydini produced an impressive performance to take the first race on the Randwick card over 1400m, defeating Lonhro gelding Hora Sexta by three lengths.
Wearing blinkers for the first time, Toydini sat in third position on the outside throughout and once the field turn for home, jockey Blake Shinn allowed his mount to hit the lead, and the colt just kept on going to record victory.
Trainer Guy walter indicated the colt is now likely to head towards the Brisbane winter carnival and be aimed at the G1 T J Smith over 1600m.
Out of the dual Listed-winning, multiple G1 placed Johan’s Toy, this colt was bred by Mr RJ Bergstrom and Mrs J K Bergstrom, and comes from the family of Stakes winners Operetta’s Lass, Extra Zero and the Golden Slipper winner Toy Show.
Toydini joins the winning, G2 placed Meidung as well as the impressive Boban as the third southern hemisphere winner for their sire.
The sire of a remarkable eight G1 horse and four G1 winners from his first northern hemisphere crops highlighted by To Honor And Serve, Stay Thirsty, A.Z. Warrior and Biondetti, Bernardini will stand the forthcoming southern hemisphere breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at $55,000 (inc GST).
