Third G1 victory for Excelebration
Excelebration won his third Group One contest and second of the season when stretching out in impressive fashion to land the 1600m Queen Elizabeth II Stakes by three lengths on QIPCO British Champions’ Day at Ascot.
The four-year-old Exceed And Excel entire has now won eight of his 14 starts, six of which have been at Group level. His only two defeats this year have been when he has finished runner-up to the mighty Frankel.
Having won twice at two, Excelebration first showed just what he was capable of when running out the seven-length winner of the German 2,000 Guineas. He added the G3 Hungerford Stakes to his Classic victory then went on to record his first Group One win in the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp.
Since being purchased by Coolmore and switched to the stable of Aidan O’Brien, he has won the G3 Gladness Stakes on his seasonal debut and was twice second to Frankel – in the G1 Lockinge Stakes and G1 Queen Anne Stakes – before winning the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville in mid-August.
The sire of 55 Stakes winners internationally, Exceed And Excel is standing the current breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $66,000 (inc. GST), while his triple G1-winning son Helmet is standing his debut season at Darley's Victorian property Northwood Park at a fee of $33,000 (inc. GST).
