Teophilip brings homes the Cup
Teophilip, a three-year-old son of Teofilo, became his sires’ 13th Stakes winner when landing the Listed Spring Cup over seven furlongs at Lingfield Park. Held up near the rear early, he scraped paint turning for homing, getting the perfect run to win by a length-and-a-quarter. He has now won three of his five starts.
Bred by Mount Coote Stud, Richard Pegum and M Bell Racing, he was bought by his current trainer Marco Botti as a yearling for £26,000, and is out of the winning Nureyev mare Triomphale, who also has a yearling colt by Exceed And Excel.
Teofilo sired Dewhurst Stakes winner Parish Hall from his first crop, and Teophilip becomes his fifth Stakes winner from his second. Other very promising three-year-olds to look forward to this season include the unbeaten G1-winning juvenile Loch Garman, multiple Stakes-winner Havana Gold, G3 Autumn Stakes winner Trading Leather and the well-entered G1 juvenile filly Roz. Teofilo stands at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for €35,000 Oct 1st, SLF.
