Helmet’s runners are absolutely flying at the moment and on 22 July, his son Eqtiraan identified himself as an extremely promising sort when winning first time out at Ascot.
Sent straight to the front under Paul Hanagan, the Richard Hannon-trained colt was content to make all in the six-furlong contest and despite a strong challenge from Rivet a furlong from home, Eqtiraan never looked in trouble and ran on superbly to win by a length and a quarter.
Eqtiraan was bred by Victor Stud and Brendan Cummins and is out of the unraced Cape Cross mare Miranda Frost, a half-sister to smart performer Majestic Missile.
Helmet has now sired four winners this week, after Bongrace obliged at Musselburgh on Tuesday, the same day as Lady of Course remained unbeaten in Sweden. Yesterday, Satine Rouge became Helmet’s tenth winner when victorious in France.
