Street Cry's tremendous run with his juveniles this season continued on Friday September 9 when his daughter Lyric Of Light remained unbeaten in the G2 May Hill Stakes at Doncaster. Heading into the 1600m contest unbeaten after an impressive Maiden success at Newmarket, she was held up early before asserting herself in the final 200m to win by a neck.
Bred by Darley, she is the second live foal of the high-class juvenile Suez, a Listed scorer at Salisbury and a second in the G1 Cheveley Park Stakes. From a top family that includes top-level scorers Colorspin, Opera House, Kayf Tara and Stagecraft she has been covered this season by Dalham Hall stallion Halling.
Lyric Of Light becomes Street Cry's fifth Stakes horse to come from his impressive 2009 crop. Already victorious at Stakes level are the unbeaten Discourse, who took the G3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket, and Fencing, who broke his Maiden in the Listed Washington Singer Stakes. And Why Not was recently placed in the G1 Spinaway Stakes in the U.S., while Leqqaa has a couple of Stakes places in the U.K. As well as Discourse, Street Cry also has three unbeaten juveniles in the U.K. in Minidress, Oscan and Anjaz. Street Cry will stand this coming season at Kelvinside for $110,000 (Inc. GST).
