Stakes success for Scarf in the UK
The winner of the Listed Winter Stakes just over 12 months ago, Lonhro gelding Scarf recorded his first Stakes success for the Godolphin racing team, and second overall, winning the Listed Dubai Duty Free Cup over 1400m at Newbury, United Kingdom, on 21 September.
Originally trained in Australia by Peter Snowden as part of the Darley racing team, Scarf was sent to join Saeed bin Suroor and the Godolphin racing team in December 2011.
Having an overall record of nine wins from 24 starts, Scarf is one of 33 Stakes winners for his Champion sire.
Bred by Woodlands Stud, Scarf is out of the Quest For Fame mare Muffle, a half-sister to the dams of Stakes winners Jeremiad and the Lonhro mare Dysphonia, who is also currently campaigning as part of the Godolphin racing team.
Standing the current southern hemisphere breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 (inc. GST), Lonhro is the sire of Champion two-year-old colt Pierro as well as fellow G1-winning Darley stallions Benfica ($11,000 (inc. GST) and Denman ($33,000 (inc. GST)) who are also standing alongside their sire this season.
