The spring races are now getting into full swing and at Caulfield on 15 August, two sons of Street Cry – Predatory Pricer and Whobegotyou - were quick to make their presence felt when providing the quinella in the G2 JJ Liston Stakes.
Settled in midfield, Predatory Pricer flew down the outside to take the 1400m contest by just a quarter of a length from his paternal half-brother Whobegotyou who also put up an impressive performance.
Winner of the G3 Gloaming Stakes at Rosehill last season, Predatory Pricer was also second in the G1 Spring Champion Stakes before finishing a close-up third in the AJC Derby. He could now head for either the Cox Plate or the Caulfield Cup.
Whobegotyou was of course last year’s G1 Caulfield Guineas winner and also finished second in the Victoria Derby.
Also on Saturday, Lonhro's progressive son Denman recorded his fourth straight win with a convincing victory in the G3 Run To The Rose at Rosehill. Carrying top weight, Denman was prominent throughout and taking the lead with 400m to run, quickened brilliantly and finished strongly to win by almost a length and a half.
He will now head for the G1 $1 million Golden Rose Trophy later this month, where he will meet his rivals at set weights.
