Son of Exceed And Excel stars at Royal Ascot
The Coventry Stakes roll of honour is littered with famous names, including unbeaten Champion juvenile Dawn Approach, and in the today's renewal a new star could be born as Exceed And Excel's impressive son Buratino ran out the very easy two length victor. One of the most experienced in the lineup having made his debut in March on the AW at Chelmsford City, he has now won four of his six starts including a facile Listed Woodcote Stakes victory by six lengths.
Bred by Darley, Buratino is a son of three-time winning Kingmambo mare Bergamask, who ran third in the Listed Prix Petite Etoile at Deauville and hails from the extended family of Danehill Dancer. Already the dam of three winners, Bergamask also has a yearling colt by Shamardal, a filly foal by Cape Cross and has been tested in foal to first-season stallion Slade Power this season.
Exceed And Excel, the world's best stallion of juvenile precocity, has now sired 25 individual Group winners at that age including Breeders' Cup victor Outstrip, the multiple G1 scorer Helmet and the Golden Slipper heroine Overreach. He is standing the upcoming season at Kelvinside, NSW at a fee of $110,000 inc GST.
