Skytrain sizzles in Classic
After a last start third in the Listed Carrington Stakes, Lonhro gelding Skytrain showed that as a seven-year-old he is more than capable of matching it with the younger brigade, settling off the speed and producing a sustained burst of speed to take the Listed Canterbury Classic by the best part of a length.
Defeating Ad Valorem gelding Uate, the victory was the eighth overall and second at Stakes level from 30 starts for Skytrain.
Bred by Woodlands Stud, Skytrain is out of the Luskin Star mare Que Sera Sera, the dam of four Stakes winners to date including G2 winner Manana, dual Listed winner Accept and Listed winner Omens. From the family of Commands’ G1 winner Erewhon, Skytrain is one of 36 Stakes winners for his Champion sire.
The sire of five G1 winners including Darley's first-season sire Denman and Champion two-year-old Pierro, Lonhro will be represented by eight yearlings at the Inglis Premier yearling sale in March, and a further 24 yearlings at the Inglis Easter yearling sale to be held in April.
