Sister to Helmet and Pierro born at Darley
With an all star cast of mares foaling at the moment, it is not only the Sheikh Mohammed-owned Stakes mares who are creating plenty of interest.
A dual G1 winner of the VRC Oaks and the Vinery Stud Stakes, resulting in being Australia’s Champion three-year-old filly, Shamardal mare Faint Perfume welcomed her first foal, a cracking colt by Street Cry foaled recently at Think Big Stud.
Others to produce foals to Street Cry include colts to the G1-winning Elusive Quality mare Camarilla; Light Chance, a Carnegie half-sister to up and coming young sire Dane Shadow; Come Hither, the Stakes-winning Redoute’s Choice mare from the family of G1 Golden Slipper winner Forensics.
While fillies out of Miss Right Note, the dam of Lonhro's unbeaten Champion Pierro; Fantail, the dam of Exceed And Excel's G1 performer Excelltastic; Commands’ G1-winning mare Russeting; Shynzi, the dam of triple G1 winner Maldivian and a foal for dual G1 winner Zarita have all be born in recent weeks.
With over 25 reported foals born so far this season for Champion sire Lonhro, some of his stand out fillies include a brown foal out of the G1-winning and G1-producing Danehill mare Camarilla; the first foal from the Western Australian G2 winner Gold Rocks; a foal from Latte, the dam of dual G1-winning stayer Fiumicino and a filly for Schiaparelli, the dam of G2 Queensland Guineas winner Rothesay.
With a colt having the potential to become a stallion, mating’s are always extremely important and with mares such as G1 Thousand Guineas winner All Tim High producing a colt; as did G1-winning sprinter Ellicorsam; G2 winner Ponton Flyer, already the dam of Lonhro Stakes winner Minnesota Shark; as well as colt out of the multiple G2 winner Ballet Society, then these colts start off on the right “hoof” with a Black type pedigree.
Retiring to stud in the same season and also having produced four individual G1 winners like Lonhro, Danehill’s G1-winning sprinting son Exceed And Excel covered a very good book of mares in 2011 with resultant colts out of the G3-winning More Than Ready mare Colour; then there is colt from the G2-winning, G1-placed Innovation Girl; as well as a colt out of the dual G1 Oaks-winning Zabeel mare Zacehline.
Exceed And Excel’s crop of fillies look really special this season with the early highlights being a full-sister to triple G1 winner Helmet and his G1 performed half-brothers Epaulette and Bullbars, all being out of the Singspiel mare Accessories who is set to visit Lonhro this season; another is the first foal out of Byzantine, an Elusive Quality half-sister to multiple G1 winner Mummify; as well as a filly out of the dual G1 winner Virage de Fortune.
A sire of seven G1 winners in the northern hemisphere highlighted by the phenomenal Rachel Alexandra, Medaglia d'Oro’s first southern hemisphere foals are arriving as we speak. Fillies from G3 winner Brockman’s Lass joins the first foals of G3 winner Miss Darcey and G2 winner Military Rose; while one of the best from his book is out of the dual G1 winner Merlene; already the dam of G2 winner Merlene de Lago and the grand-dam of the recent G2 winner Dear Demi.
His colts include the first foal from Across The Moon, a three-quarter sister to dual G1 winner Melito; the first foal from the G3-winning Lonhro mare Trim; as well as a colt from G1 winner Preserve, a half-sister to Darley stallion Denman.
