Sheikh Mohammed’s speed phenomenon Sepoy will stand at Darley in Australia in 2012

At two, Sepoy was exceptional. He won the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes by four-and-a-quarter lengths in the second fastest time ever before a dominant performance in the world’s richest two-year-old race, the G1 Golden Slipper. Australia’s premier two-year-old event had not been won by a Blue Diamond winner since 1989.

At three, Sepoy recorded his third G1 by easily defeating More Joyous in the Manikato Stakes. No horse in the modern era had won the Golden Slipper and returned at three to win a G1 sprint race against older horses. The last Slipper winner to achieve that feat was Manikato more than thirty years before.

Sepoy finished his undefeated spring campaign with an air of invincibility when winning the G1 Coolmore Stakes. He was the highest rated three-year-old sprinter in the world.

The powerful-looking Champion colt remains Australia’s best three-year-old. He is the winner of 10 races from 13 starts and nearly $4m in prize money.

Bred by Sheikh Mohammed, Sepoy is Australia’s most exciting stallion prospect. He is by world-record-breaking Darley stallion Elusive Quality and is out of the Danehill mare Watchful, who is in turn a full-sister to G1 winner Camarena, dam of G1-winning juvenile Camarilla.

Sepoy will stand at Darley’s Kelvinside Stud in the Hunter Valley at a fee of $66,000 (inc.GST).
