Sharufa, from the first crop of Darley stallion Untouchable, recorded her second victory in great style on 24 March, landing the valuable Magic Millions 2YO Plate at the Gold Coast.
Having broken her maiden here at her home track a fortnight ago, the Bryan Guy-trained filly was given a great ride by jockey Paul Hammersley and crossed the line a length-and-a-half ahead of her nearest rival to take the 1200m contest, which is worth $101,775.
Also on Monday, promising Elusive Quality filly Bernicia maintained her unbeaten record with victory over 1400m at Randwick. She is now likely to target the AJC Australian Oaks, due to take place on 30 April with the Listed Keith E Nolan Classic pencilled in as her next start.
Monday also saw the start of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale and once again the progeny of Exceed And Excel were in demand, with the current leading first-season sire averaging over $280,000 for five sold. His highest price of the session was $550,000, given by Gai Waterhouse for a colt from Mehitabel, a half-sister to G1 winner Danske and multiple Stakes winner Eagle Rhythm.
The sale continues today.
