First-season sire Shamardal, who has made a promising start to his stud career with two Black type performers to his name already, increased his number of winners to four on 24 April when Femina Fashion saluted the judge at Ipswich.
Making only her second start, the T M Whittington-trained filly took the 1200m maiden by almost two-and-a-half lengths.
Bred by Mr K Dixon and K Thomas, Femina Fashion is the first foal out of the winning Jeune mare So Tempted, herself a full sister to G2 winner and VRC Oaks third, Lolita Star.
Shamardal is also sire of G2 placegetter Marquardt and Listed-placed filly Premardal, both of whom are also winners.
Shamardal was leading second crop sire at the recent Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, recording an average of $270,000 – putting him behind only Redoute’s Choice, Encosta de Lago and Galileo in the overall sires’ table.
