Sensible Lady wins fourth career stakes
Prior to the 1100m Coronation Cup at Saratoga, Street Sense’s Sensible Lady had registered three career Stakes wins but had yet to test the waters on the tough New York Racing circuit. Well, she certainly passed this highly-competitive test, coming from off the pace to win going away for her third consecutive Stakes win and fourth overall added-money victory. Third in the race was Hard Spun's daughter Spun Cap.
A Stakes winner now at four different racetracks, Sensible Lady is the first foal for Awesome Lady, a multiple Stakes winner and Graded-placed mare by Bianconi. The filly was bred in Kentucky by Spendthrift Farm, LLC and races in the silks of owner Matt Lyons.
Sensible Lady has now won seven of 11 career starts and is one of 13 Stakes horses from Street Sense’s first crop, a group that also reflects eight Graded performers. These include Graded Stakes winners - Castaway and Motor City in addition to G1-placed Miss Netta and Aubby K. His son Street Life won the one and one-eighth mile Curlin Stakes in late July, also at Saratoga, and is expected to start next in the G1 Travers Stakes.
Street Sense, whose three-year-old son Urquidez became the first southern hemisphere Stakes performer for his sire last weekend, will stand the forthcoming southern hemisphere breeding season at Darley Kelvinside for $38,500 (inc. GST) alongside his sire Street Cry who will stand for $110,000 (inc. GST).
