Second Stakes victory for Trudeau
Having won the Listed Garden City Trophy at the final start of his last preparation, Exceed And Excel gelding Trudeau resumed on November 11 and recorded back-to-back Stakes victories, saluting first-up in the Listed EW Barker Trophy over 1400m at Kranji in Singapore.
Settling in third position on the rail behind the leader, jockey A’Isisuhairi 'Harry' Kasim produced the Bruce Marsh-trained gelding at the right time to chase down the leaders to defeat Holy Empire by three-quarters of a length with Elusive Quality gelding Mr Big holding on for third.
Bred by Darley in Australia, Trudeau is out of the Kris mare Canadian Legacy, a sister to the G2 winner Hawajiss, a half-sister to the dams of Listed winners Dirty and Torumba, as well as to the dam of G3 winner Fast Company. It is also the family of this season’s New Zealand G1 winner Nashville.
The sire of 76 Stakes winner globally, including G1 winners Guelph, Outstrip, Overreach and Excelebration, Exceed And Excel is standing the current breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $88,000 (inc. GST), while his triple G1-winning son Helmet is standing his second season at Northwood Park for a fee of $33,000 (inc. GST).
