Dawn Approach’s juveniles are starting to fire and on Tuesday 8 August he sired his second new winner in the space of three days when Shrewd Approach was victorious over seven furlongs at Catterick. Making leaps forward with every start, she came into the race on the back of a narrow defeat at Ffos Las and after making her move coming into the straight, battled gamely to the line to win by a head.
Her victory comes two days after Fast Approach broke his maiden in impressive fashion in Japan, a video of which can be found here.
Shrewd Approach is the first foal of the highly rated four-time winner Al Sharood (by Shamardal and rated 109 by Timeform), who hails from the extended family of G1 Prix Jean Prat hero Local Talent.
Dawn Approach’s first crop already includes two Stakes performers; Curragh winner Dawn Delivers was third in the G3 Silver Flash Stakes while wide-margin maiden scorer Haddaf had been placed twice at Listed level. He is standing this season at a fee of $22,000.
