Cardinal Virtue has been a model of consistency since beginning his racing career in May last year and he duly recorded his first Stakes win at Cheltenham in South Australia on Saturday when landing the Listed Redelva Stakes over five furlongs.
The Elusive Quality three-year-old won on debut at Moonee Valley back in May and subsequently ran third in the G3 HDF McNeil Stakes at Caulfield. A half-brother to G2 winners Media and Timbourina, Cardinal Virtue is out of the Snippets mare Valourina and was bred by Twin Palms Stud. He is the third Stakes winner in eight days for Elusive Quality following the victories of Royal Michele in the G2 Barbara Fritchie Handicap and True Quality in the G2 General George Handicap.
On home turf at Santa Anita, Street Cry filly Onebadkitty dead-heated with Bel Air Sizzle in the Listed Valentine Dancer Handicap over a mile. Bred in partnership by her owners the Lyons Family Trust, E-Racing.com and her co-owner/trainer Brian Koriner, the four-year-old is another incredibly consistent performer. She has won three of her eight starts, and has never finished out of the first three, including running second in the California Breeders’ Champion Stakes as a two-year-old. Onebadkitty is out of the Listed Miss California Stakes winner Denali Cat (Sir Cat).
