Enjoying a great season with 10 individual southern hemipshere Stakes winners, unbeaten Zabeel stallion Reset was represented by five-year-old gelding Frozone in the last race at Eagle Farm on June 25.
A last start third over the course and distance, the five-year-old gelding jumped away from barrier one and settled in fourth position, getting a very good run on the rails.
As the 18-strong field fanned around the home turn, jockey Scott Seamer was presented with a gap and he urged the Alan Bailey-trained gelding to chase down the leading duo. Getting up in the final few strides, Frozone defeated the Gai Waterhouse-trained Devils Arcade by a length in the Listed Tattersall’s Racing Club Mile.
Bred by New Zealander Gary Chittick, Frozone is out of the O’Reilly mare Ice Maiden. A half-brother to the G2-winner Pins gelding Icepin, Frozone comes from the family of G1 winner Kinjite and the G2 winner Scardee Cat.
The sire of a Derby winner in his first crop, a Guineas filly in his second crop and an Oaks filly in his third crop, Reset will stand the forthcoming breeding season at Darley’s Northwood Park at a fee of $16,500 (inc GST).
