Quidnunc leads home a Darley stallion one-two in the Nivison
Starting first-up in the Listed Nivison over 1200m at Randwick on 20 October, Lonhro mare Quidnunc recorded her first career Stakes win, defeating Commands mare Capital Commander by a nose in a photo finish.
Settling mid-field for jockey Kathy O’Hara, the Peter Snowden-trained Quidnunc persevered for a run that finally came, and chase down Capital Commander who had skipped a few lengths clear at the 200m mark.
Bred by Woodlands Stud, Quidnunc is out of the seven-time Stakes placed Grand Lodge mare Dorky. A full-sister to the Stakes placed Segolene, Quidnunc is bred on the same cross as fellow Stakes performers Raspberries, Dissolved and Status Quo. Dorky has a two-year-old filly by New Approach named Heirlooms, a yearling filly by Commands and is due to foal to Medaglia d'Oro in the coming weeks.
Becoming the 34th Stakes winner for her sire, Lonhro is currently sitting in third position behind Commands on the Australian General Sires’ Table.
Standing at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 (inc. GST), Lonhro is the sire of four individual G1 winners including Champion two-year-old Pierro and Darley’s stallions Denman and Benfica who are standing alongside their sire at $33,000 (inc. GST) and $11,000 (inc. GST) respectively.
