Plum Pretty, a three-year-old Medaglia d'Oro filly who dazzled in the G1 Kentucky Oks at Churchill Downs in May, returned October 1 with yet another victory - this time in the $750,000 G2 Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing. It was the third Stakes win for the classy filly, who was a remarkable 25-length winner of the Sunland Park Oaks prior to her G1 Kentucky Oaks romp.
Breaking right to the lead during the one and one-sixteenth mile race, Plum Pretty took charge on the inside to set the pace. Maintaining her lead, the filly opened up in the top of the stretch and drew away clear very convincingly for the win.
On the board in eight of nine starts, the consistent Plum Pretty has now won or placed in six Graded Stakes races in 2011. The Medaglia d'Oro filly was bred by Silent Indy Stables, LLC and DDS Stables. She is a daughter of the A.P. Indy mare Liszy, who is a half-sister to Stakes winner Gold Case. Plum Pretty's granddam is G2 Alcibiades Stakes winner and G1-placed Silent Account.
A successfuly young sire, Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of 14 lifetime Graded Stakes winners. He is the sire of legendary Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra. In addition to Plum Pretty he has been represented by 2011 G1 winner C. S. Silk as well as Graded Stakes winners Marketing Mix and Super Espresso, among others.
Medaglia d'Oro is standing at Darley Kelvinside for a fee of $77,000 (inc. GST).
