After a last start second in the G1 Epsom Handicap behind Dubawi mare Secret Admirer, Reset mare Pinker Pinker came with a determined run to take the Australasian weight-for-age Championship, the G1 W.S. Cox Plate on October 22.
Jumping away from barrier 11, jockey Craig Williams was content to let the mare settle back in the field where she was comfortable. Coming with a sustained run through the field, the Greg Eurell-trained mare raced away to record a one-and-a-quarter length victory over multiple G1-winning New Zealander Jimmy Choux.
Bred by Mr W Giovas and Mr C Gordon, Pinker Pinker is out of the winning Success Express mare Miss Marion, a three-quarter sister to the Stakes performer Sipowicz. Miss Marion foaled a colt by Denman recently and is booked in to be covered by Champion sire Lonhro in the coming weeks.
The sire of 14 individual Stakes winners including the dual G1 winner Rebel Raider and the consistent G1 performers Avienus and Set For Fame, Reset is standing the current breeding season at Darley’s Northwood Park at a fee of $16,500 (inc GST).
