An overwhelming turn of foot has carried Pin Sec to a stunning victory in the G3 Black Opal Stakes in Canberra on Sunday, 10 March and put her in line for a start in the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes.
In a triumph for herself and her sire Lonhro, Pin Sec was having her first start since winning a 2YO Maiden at Randwick in late December.
But her lack of recent racing proved no barrier as she steamed home to score by an ever-increasing four lengths from Rome with McLaren (Exceed And Excel) in third place.
Pin Sec is a daughter of the Stakes-winning Commands mare Moderate who was raced by Sheikh Mohammed and won four of her only five starts.
She becomes Lonhro’s 82nd Stakes winner and one of 36 individual worldwide winners of 47 races for the year for a sire who maintains a 72 percent winners-to-runners record.
Lonhro also sired the 2018 Black Opal winner Encryption.
