Ones To Watch
With the 2013 yearling sale season now getting into full swing, the weekend victories for Commands filly Calming Influence and Reset filly Ms Funovitis, as well as the third victory by Bernardini filly Ruud Awakening in New Zealand, highlights the progeny by these sires at forthcoming yearling sales.
The first race on the Flemington card on 12 January saw the Reset filly Ms Funovitis make her race track debut over 1100m in the Better Beyond Plate. Jumping to the lead, the Inglis Premier yearling sale graduate proved too strong for the rest of the field, holding on to score narrowly, but highlighting the gutsy nature of the progeny of Reset.
Bred by North Road Bloodstock, Ms Funovitis is out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Illusional, making the filly a half-sister to the G2-winning Chase The Rainbow.

20 minutes after the victory of Ms Funovitis, Commands filly Calming Influence was an impressive winner of the opening race on the Rosehill program.
Bred and raced by Stratheden Stud, the filly is out of the Listed-winning Zeditave mare Calming, a half-sister to the dam of G1 winner War Atrist.
Also making her debut, the Chris Waller-trained filly jumped to the lead and was never headed, going on to record an impressive length victory.
Having had 13 yearling sell during the premier session of the recent Magic Millions yearling sale for an average price of $153,000, Commands will have 15 yearlings represent him at the Inglis Premier yearling sale which can be viewed by clicking here.
Currently the leading fancy for the Karaka Million on 27 January, Bernardini filly Rudd Awakening was kept up to the mark, taking victory over 1200m at Ellerslie. Having won three of her four starts to date including a victory at Listed level, the Bernardini filly is out of the Danehill mare Dawn Almighty and was bred by Russell Warwick. The filly was then puchased by Go Racing Pty Ltd from the Westbury Stud draft at the 2012 Karaka Premier yearling sale for $90,000.
