Nothing complicated about victory
Having his second run back of his current campaign, three-year-old Commands gelding Complicate jumped away well from the barriers and went forward, leading throughout to record victory in the Listed Canberra Guineas over 1400m, becoming the 55th Stakes winner for his sire.
A winner of three, with a further three second places from seven starts, the Peter Snowden-trained gelding has really stepped up this campaign, winning both starts from a break and looks more than capable of going on with it now.
Bred by Darley, Complicate is out of the Canny Lad mare Chaparra, making the gelding a full-brother to the five-time Stakes winner El Cambio, as well as a half-sister to the Stakes performed Cataclysm (dam of the Listed-winning Commands mare Palomares) and Viscount mare Linisfarne (dam of the Listed winning Exceed And Excel gelding Excellent Reward). Chaparra has a two-year-old Commands colt named Achanizo and foaled a Denman filly in 2012 before being covered by Commands’ G1-winning son Skilled in the latest breeding season.
As the sire of 55 Stakes winners globally, Commands is the sire of nine G1 winners highlighted Appearance, Commanding Jewel and Epaulette, all winners at the highest level during the current racing season.
Commands will be represented by eight yearlings at the Inglis Easter yearling sale in April.
