Helmet added another Stakes winner to his tally on Saturday when Taamol triumphed in the Listed King Charles II Stakes over seven furlongs at Newmarket.
Trained by Sir Michael Stoute for Sheikh Hamdan, Taamol tracked the leader before making his move along the rail a couple of furlongs from home. Having got a little lonely in front, the three-year-old fought back well to win by a head.
Bred by Derek Gibbons, Tomas Kerin and Ann Gibbons out of the Montjeu mare Supreme Seductress, the colt was a 140,000gns purchase during Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by the Shadwell operation.
Taamol is from the first European crop of Helmet which also includes G1-winning juvenile Thunder Snow and recent Italian 2,000 Guineas winner Anda Muchacho who will contest the G2 Derby Italiano on Sunday.
Helmet will stand the upcoming season for $16,500 inc GST at Northwood Park.
