On a busy afternoon for the Darley stallions, Exceed And Excel’s three-year-old daughter Red Box became the latest Black type winner for her sire when taking the Listed Valiant Stakes at Ascot.
The Cheveley Park Stud homebred crossed the line a neck behind Namhroodah, however she was awarded the race in the stewards’ room following an inquiry.
Red Box is out of Singspiel’s G1 Prix Diane Hermes winner Confidential Lady, also dam of Shamardal’s G2 Prix Greffulhe second Untold Secret. They are from the family of US Triple Crown winner Affirmed.
Exceed And Excel has now sired ten individual Stakes winners so far this year, headed by G1 winner Flamberge and G1 performer Morawij.
