Godolphin-owned two-year-olds filled the first two places in the Listed Prix Francois Boutin on Sunday 13 August with Mythical Magic (Iffraaj) just denying Cascadian (New Approach). Both colts came into the contest unbeaten after debut victories at Ascot and Chantilly and after a protracted dual, Mythical Magic just got the better of his rival by three-quarters-of-a-length with a big gap of three lengths back to the third.
Bred by Peter Kelly and Ms Wendy Daly, Mythical Magic was a 140,000gns foal and is out of the winning Octagonal mare Mythie. He is a half-brother to five winners including G3 Nell Gwyn heroine Esentepe.
Iffraaj has sired three G1 winners so far this year, headed by Lockinge and Queen Anne hero Ribchester, with a brace of exceptional Classic winners in the southern hemisphere in Jon Snow and Gingernuts. He is also responsible for G2-winning duo The Black Princess and Wyndspelle.
Iffraaj will stand this season at Haunui Stud at a fee of NZ$25,000 plus GST.
