Choux became the latest juvenile Stakes winner for her sire Exceed And Excel when landing the Listed Prix Yacowlef at Deauville on Sunday, 11 July.
Breaking well, Choux tracked the leading trio before hard ridden with just under two furlongs to travel. The filly bravely picked off her opposition under jockey Maxime Guyon, staying on gamely in the final furlong to win by a neck.
The well-named Choux is the third foal out of Puff Pastry, a Pivotal half-sister to G1 Nassau Stakes victrix Sultanina. They are out of the Stakes-winning Zafonic mare Soft Centre, herself a half-sister to G3 Long Island Handicap winner and G2 Ribblesdale Stakes placed Dalvina. This is the family of G3-winning sprinter Extortionist.
Choux is the 10th Stakes winner of 2021 for her sire Exceed And Excel who remains the world’s most potent source of juvenile winners. His Group winners this season include G1 Paddock Stakes heroine Queen Supreme, the G3-winning sprinter Chil Chil and G3 Nell Gwyn winner Sacred.
Exceed And Excel heads the 2021 roster at Kelvinside, NSW at a fee of $132,000 including GST.
