Ikerrin Road, a four-year-old son of Iffraaj, landed his biggest career contest on Saturday 17 September when winning the G3 Bold Venture Stakes at Woodbine. Run over six-and-a-half furlongs on their synthetic track, he was always well placed on the rails behind the leader and when manoeuvred out in the straight, he ran all the way to the line to record a one-and-a-quarter length triumph.
Originally trained in Britain by John Quinn where he was the winner of three races, he has won a further four this season in Canada.
Bred by Gerard Kerin, Ikerrin Road hails from the extended family of Champion miler Selkirk. Out of the three-time winning Fantastic Light mare Fantastic Spring, he is a half-brother to Teofilo’s highly rated son Queensberry Rules.
Iffraaj has sired three G1 winners so far this year, headed by Lockinge, Queen Anne and Prix du Moulin hero Ribchester, with a brace of exceptional Classic winners in the southern hemisphere in Jon Snow and Gingernuts. He is also responsible for G2-winning duo The Black Princess and Wyndspelle.
Iffraaj stands under the Darley banner at Haunui Stud in New Zealand at a fee of NZ$25,000 plus GST.
