A brilliant debut by Aryaaf in the G3 Ottawa Stakes at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day has kept the winners flowing for her sire Epaulette and added to a strengthening family record.
Aryaaf displayed superior speed and good racing manners as she raced largely on her own down the centre of the Flemington straight course before scoring by 1-3/4 lengths from Muntaseera.
Marchena took third place a further 2-3/4 lengths away.
The winner is a daughter of the Shamardal mare Bulbula who is a half-sister to the Australian Stakes winner Khulaasa who, like Aryaaf is raced by Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum.
Aryaaf became the 12th Stakes winner and 168th overall for Epaulette who stood the latest southern-hemisphere breeding season at Kelvinside, NSW, at a fee of A$27,500, including GST.
