Midnight Transfer, a three-year-old son of Hard Spun, followed his Maiden Special Weight score December 26 with a sharp Stakes victory in Santa Anita's San Pedro Stakes January 22. The colt positioned himself along the rail in the six and one-half furlong race. Entering the final turn he began to sweep past competitors on the outside and stormed home down the stretch for an eye-catching victory.
Bred by Alpha Delta Stables, LLC, Midnight Transfer is out of the Graded Stakes-winning French Deputy mare French Satin, herself a half-sister to G1 winner Lion Heart and Graded winner Connemara.
Midnight Transfer becomes the fourth Stakes winner for Hard Spun, who has also sired G2 winner Red Duke as well as Listed Stakes winners Yvete Sangalo and Hard Not To Like. In all, he is the sire of 11 Stakes horses to date from his first crop of runners in the northern hemisphere, six of which have won or placed in Graded/Group Stakes.
Hard Spun will be represented at the fortcoming Inglis Premier yearling sale by 10 yearlings catalogued including lot 472, a half-brother to G3 winner Chong Tong and lot 356 a half-sister to Listed winner Uzigal.
