Mega Dream flies in Great Lady M Stakes
Medaglia d'Oro mare Mega Dream absolutely flew in the stretch of the Great Lady M Stakes May 27 for a fantastic victory. Making her Stakes debut, the five-year-old mare was entering off an Allowance win at Oaklawn Park.
Mega Dream settled well off the pace in the six furlong turf race at Hollywood. She began to strategically duck to the outside entering the stretch, and absolutely ran away from them in the stretch under good handling.
Out of the St. Jovite mare Dream Away, Mega Dream is a half-sister to Stakes winner Grant Jack. Her second dam is Stakes winner and Group-placed Premium Win.
The leading commercial sire of the day, Medaglia d'Oro has certainly made a name for himself at stud. He is the sire of two G1 Kentucky Oaks winners in Plum Pretty and Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra. The number one dirt sire in the world, he is the stallion with the best first crop of all time by number of Stakes winners. He is the sire of seven lifetime G1 winners thus far.
Medaglia d'Oro will stand the forthcoming southern hemisphere breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc. GST).
