Exceed And Excel three-year-old Margot Did won her second Listed race in quick succession when landing the Land O’ Burns Fillies’ Stakes over 1000m at Ayr in Scotland a week after taking Sandown’s Scurry Stakes by five lengths.
Bred by N Hartery, Margot Did is out of the Shareef Dancer mare Special Dancer and has now won four of her 11 starts. She has also been placed on five occasions, including finishing runner-up in last year’s G3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and in the G2 Lowther Stakes at York.
Her win sealed an excellent week for her sire, who was also responsible for Wednesday’s G2 Queen Mary Stakes winner Best Terms, and for Passagio, who won the Premio d’Estate in Milan on Sunday.
Among Exceed And Excel’s stakes winers around the world in 2011 are Group One-winning juvenile Helmet, German 2,000 Guineas winner Excelebration, who was third to Frankel in Tuesday’s G1 St James’s Palace Stakes, and Winter Derby winner Nideeb.
Exceed And Excel stands at Darley's Kelvinside in NSW for $66,000 (inc. GST).
