A rousing performance by the lightly-raced youngster Marcel From Madrid has given Sepoy his second Australian Stakes winner and eighth globally.
Marcel From Madrid had won in maiden class on debut, but took the step up in class in his stride to score a dominant win in South Australia’s premier two-yea-old race, the G3 National Stakes at Morphettville on 19 May.
Ridden quietly from the gates, Marcel From Madrid began his winning run at the 600m, circling the field and hitting the front at the 200m, going to the line clear of Aristia, a daughter of Lonhro.
Marcel From Madrid is from the Redoute’s Choice mare Lipari, who is also the dam of G1 winning three-year-old Levendi.
Sepoy is also the sire of Australia’s top-class filly, the dual G1 winner Alizee and six other Stakes winners in Europe.
Sepoy will stand the coming southern hemisphere season at Northwood Park in Victoria at A$11,000 including GST.
