Lonhro colt Wait For No One has shown blistering speed to win the Listed Debutant Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on October 8, continuing the domination of Darley stallions in Australia’s early season two-year-old races.
The narrow victory by the Lonhro colt, who is trained by David Hayes, Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, makes it a clean sweep of juvenile Stakes races for Darley stallions to start the new racing season.
Last week, two-year-old Exceed And Excel filly Jorda won the Listed Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) and two-year-old Exceed And Excel colt Khan won the Listed Breeders’ Plate (1000m), both run at Randwick on October 1.
At Flemington October 2, Exceed And Excel filly Madeenaty led all the way in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (1000m), who is also trained by the Hayes-Dabernig partnerhip.
A homebred for Peter Devitt, Wait For No One was sent straight to the lead by jockey Stephen Baster and kicked clear before showing good fight to hold off the late challenge of Spoils.
Wait For No One is out of Maribyrnong Trial Stakes placegetter Divine Choice, who is from the family of G1 winner Super Elegant and G2 winner Elegancy. Divine Choice has had two foals to race for two winners.
Wait For No One is the 65th Stakes winner for his sire Lonhro, who is also the sire of G1-placed and G2 Stan Fox Stakes (1400m) winner Impending.
Lonhro stands at Kelvinside for a fee of $88,000 inc GST alongside his sire son Denman, who stands for $11,000 inc GST.
