One of the most anticipated foals of the season was born during the early hours of August 18 in Victoria - a colt by the 11-time G1 winner Lonhro out of the Champion race mare Makybe Diva.
By a Champion and out of a Champion; the colt’s parents won an impressive 41 races between them, 18 of which were at G1 level and amassed in excess $20 million in prize money.
Recently crowned the Australian Champion sire for the 2010/2011 racing season with progeny earnings in excess of $8.7 million, Lonhro has sired 27 individual Stakes winners headed by G1 winners Denman, Beaded and Benfica.
Standing the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $77,000 (inc GST), other star G1-winning mares due to foal this season to Lonhro include Ancient Song, Arapaho Miss, Bonanova, Divine Madonna, Emerald Dream, Neroli, Republic Lass and Serenade Rose.
