Lonhro colt Impending has moved out of the shadows of some of his stablemates by winning the G2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on September 24.
The three-year-old colt finished third in the G1 Golden Rose (1400m) behind Medaglia d’Oro colt Astern at his previous start, but in the Stan Fox Stakes settled last before overhauling his rivals with an impressive finish for jockey James McDonald.
A winner of two races from five starts, Impending is out of five-time Group winner Mnemosyne, who won the G1 Thousand Guineas and the G1 Queen of the Turf Stakes. Impending’s second dam, Canny Lad mare My Juliet, has produced seven foals, all of which are winners.
Mnemosyne herself has produced four winners including G3 winner Forget, who is by Exceed And Excel, and has a two-year-old full sister to Impending named Epidemic. She is due to foal to Sepoy this year.
Lonhro stands at Kelvinside for a fee of $88,000 inc GST alongside his sire son Denman, who stands for a fee of $11,000 inc GST.
