Exceed And Excel recorded a new Black type winner on 26 July when his consistent daughter Lbretha landed the Listed Prix Jacques de Bremond, run over 1600m at Vichy.
Settled at the rear of the field under jockey Alexis Badel, Lbretha was asked to quicken 400m from home and swept down the centre of the track, outbattling eventual second and previous Stakes winner Maximum Aurelius to win by a short head.
Trained by Francis-Henri Graffard, this was the third career victory for Lbretha, who has finished in the first three in eight of her 11 starts.
She was bred by Dayton Investments Ltd and is one of four winners from four foals to race out of Actrice Francaise (Dynaformer), herself a half-sister to four Stakes winners including G1 Prix Saint Alary second Article Rare. Lbretha’s third dam is the great racemare and six-time G1 winner Allez France.
Exceed And Excel has now sired 14 Stakes winners so far this year, including G2-winning trio Mr Stunning, Championship and Priceless, plus Royal Ascot juvenile Stakes winner Sound And Silence.
Exceed And Excel stands at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 including GST.
