Lamasery brings up fourth Stakes win
Starting the favourite after two very pleasing runs since resuming from a spell, Commands gelding Lamasery recorded a hard fought win to defeat G1 performers Mourayan and Lights Of Heaven in the G2 Hill Stakes over 2000m at Randwick on September 22.
Later on the same day, last start G3-winning Commands mare Appearance produced an eye-catching effort to come from back in the field to finish third in the G2 Shorts over 1200m at Randwick.
Enjoying a very impressive run of late, Commands has produced four Stakes winners in the past two weeks including Epaulette the winner of the G1 Golden Rose a week back and the G2 victory for Ambidexter, a full-brother to Darley stallion Skilled, on the same day.
A winner of 11 from 21 starts, Lamasery was bred by Woodlands Stud and is out of the Quest For Fame mare Verse, a half-sister to G1 winner Anthems and Listed winner Vocalist (the dam of multiple G1 winner Yell and the Stakes-winning Sung). Verse has an unnamed two-year-old colt by Danzig's G1-winning Darley's Northwood Park-based stallion Hard Spun.
Currently leading the General Sires’ table, Commands is the sire of 48 Stakes winners including seven G1 winners and is standing the current breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 (inc. GST), while his G1-winning son Skilled will stand at Darley's Victorian-base Northwood Park at a fee of $8,800 (inc. GST).
