It’s a crime
Although racing slightly greenly down the straight, Street Sense colt Street Crime proved too good for his opposition, taking out the second race at Geelong over 1100m on his racetrack debut.
Sitting in fourth position, jockey Jake Noonan pulled the colt off the rails to start his run before the turn, gathering in the leaders to score by a short neck margin.
Bred by Ruane Stud, Street Crime is out of the Mr Prospector mare Crescent Moon, herself a daughter of the Champion filly Balanchine. From the family of Stakes winners West Wind, Red Slippers, April Starlight, Romanov, Royal Devotion and Shonan Mighty, the colt’s trainer Mark Kavanagh indicated that he feels Street Crime will get over 2000m and possibly even 2400m, but will be spelled after another run.
The sire of 15 Stakes horses including the four-time Stakes winner Sensible Lady and the G3 winners Castaway and Motor City, Street Sense is currently sitting in equal second by number of winners on the second-season sire table and third on prizemoney in Australia. A history-making son of global sire sensation Street Cry, Street Sense is standing the current southern hemisphere breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $38,500 (inc. GST).
